What are the dates?
February 18th - 28th 2011
What will the weather be like?
Temperatures might not get above freezing in the daytime and could be as low as minus 30° at night, but a toasty minus 10° is more likely. There should be a generous snow covering along the route but with the planet in the state it is we might get a new freak weather phenomenon called El Scorchio in which case pack speedos and factor 40...
Where do we stay?
Hotels and log cabins will be sorted out for you along the way. Sleeping in the car is not recommended unless you want to resemble a Mini Milk in the morning...
What modifications should we make to our vehicles?
It is essential all vehicles are fitted with a decent heated rear window to keep your hands warm whilst pushing it out of ditches and snowdrifts. We also recommend the cigarette lighter works so you can light up a Hamlet whilst the car slowly sinks to the bottom of a not-as-frozen-as-we-thought lake...
What will we see?
We have no idea, we make it up as we go along.
How much will it cost?
The entry fee is 480 Euros for a two person team. The entry fee includes the following:
- Overnight stays in hotels or log cabins and breakfast
- Route mapping
- Translators to assist with phrases such as "sorry officer" and "Jesus made me do it"
- A big vehicle with a winch to pull you out of the crevasse you fell in whilst daydreaming
Other than that you just need to budget for fuel, ferries, food and beer.
