Moped Mayhem Schedule

Moped Mayhem Winner

How do I enter a team?

Simply fill out the contact form stating "Moped Mayhem" in the event section and we will email you an application form by return. Entries and acceptance are at the discretion of RAF Wittering Bike Club.

What are the team requirements?

A minimum of two riders and a maximum of five riders per team. No racing licence required. Under no circumstances must teams take themselves too seriously and bonus laps will be awarded to any teams competing in fancy dress.

What are the vehicle requirements?

The bike should be in one piece, at least to start with. Crapness is expected but that is not the same as dangerous. Your bike should not burst in to a fireball at the first corner.

  • Engine capacity must not exceed 50cc for two strokes and 90cc for four strokes.
  • One moped per team.
  • No manual clutches
  • Must have adequate front and rear brakes. (does not mean left and right shoe).
  • Tyres are to be in a safe condition (inflated).
  • No sharp edges (e.g broken levers, razor blades)
  • Mini Moto’s and MXers are not classified as mopeds. These are the little bikes that 10 year olds with ASBO's ride around old people's homes. They are not permitted.

Other safety requirements

  • One or two piece leathers
  • Suitable helmet, boots and gloves
  • No alcohol during the race, unless you bike seizes after ten minutes in which case you can drown your sorrows
  • No punching, hair pulling or wedgies. It's just a bit of fun.
  • No tactical nuclear weapons

Where is it being held?

The event is being organised by the bike club at RAF Wittering and is only possible thanks to the goodwill of the RAF so please don't nob it up for everyone else by deciding to play by your own rules. It is a working airfield so make sure you obey the marshalls or you may end up as propeller chop suey. RAF Wittering, Cambridgeshire, PE8 6HB

What will the weather be like?

It's England. It might be hot and sunny or cold with hail and snow. Or just a bit cloudy with a gentle south-easterly. Or drizzling. Or not.

How much will it cost?

Not a lot. Just acquire a crap moped off Ebay and bring the team entry fee of £60. Cash on the day. Of course please feel free to raise extra funds for this years chosen charity.
